The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Mark Locock announced that the UN will allocate $ 25 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund to combat gender-based violence.
According to him, the funds will be used to support women’s organizations that fight violence against women and girls, as well as support its victims.
“It’s a smart investment and it’s the right decision. We will be able to cope with the pandemic only by joint efforts, without leaving anyone behind, ”Lokok said.
The money will be transferred to UN-Women and the UN Population Fund, which will work directly with women’s organizations and provide financial support.
It will be recalled that on November 25, the world celebrated the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
