And what will happen to our body if we stop sports? What changes are happening? What transformations will there be? Or maybe nothing will change?
So, after the first week of giving up sports, we will have the following changes. On average, endurance and other physical sports performance are reduced by plus or minus 5%. But so far we don’t really feel it, which you can’t say if we haven’t played sports for a month. The average decline in endurance and performance in sports falls by about plus or minus 15%.
And here is the moment when the body instead of synthesizing muscle fibers begins to gradually switch to the synthesis of adipose tissue. Yes Yes. In a month we can already see a little less muscle and a little more fat. Of course, the month is not yet the deadline and you can fix the situation quickly in a few weeks, if we return to training.
But we want to know what will happen next. From the emotional sphere, too, certain changes are beginning to take place. If in general sports improve the work of our nervous system, improve our sleep, improve our mood and our subjective sense of reality also becomes more positive, then due to the lack of sports a month in our lives, all these indicators may gradually deteriorate. That is, we will sleep a little worse and feel less energetic.
After three months without training, we lose up to 30 percent of our athletic performance and are already beginning to really feel the decline in physical endurance and emotional state. We are really beginning to feel shortness of breath, very tired from any physical activity, we have a strong decline in tone not only muscles but also general life. And after three months without sports, of course, the appearance in the mirror also deteriorates significantly.
Of course, it is necessary to remember such a phenomenon as muscular memory. If we have ever trained our muscles to a certain level, then even if we have not exercised at all for several years, it will be much easier for our body to restore muscle levels to any existing level. On the one hand, it is very motivating and gives a feeling of calm. But on the other hand, for some it may be an excuse not to play sports for a long time, well, what is it, I want and quickly recover if necessary.
