In Ain Sefri, the temperature on the night of January 17, when it snowed, dropped to -2 ° C. In the last 42 years, snow has fallen in these areas only four times: in 1979, 2016, 2018 and 2021.
Ordinary snowfall occurred in Ain Sefri as a result of an anticyclone that came from Central Asia. Earlier, snow fell in the area of Jebel al-Lowes in the northwestern part of Saudi Arabia.
The city of Ain Sefra is also known as the “gate to the desert”. The village is located at an altitude of about 1000 m above sea level and is surrounded by the Atlas Mountains.
