To date, scientists have conducted a sufficient number of studies on the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and cancer risk, including: 30 studies of colon cancer, 13 studies of breast cancer, 26 studies of prostate cancer and 7 studies of ovarian cancer. Most experts have concluded that a sufficient amount of vitamin D in the body can reduce the risk of cancer.
Back in 2011, American scientists found that three quarters of people with various types of cancer have low levels of vitamin D.
For the study, researchers took blood samples from 160 men and women with cancer and measured their vitamin D levels. The five most common diagnoses were breast, prostate, lung, thyroid and colorectal cancer.
