The price of plastic bags in stores will increase from February 1 .
From February 1, 2022, the minimum price for a plastic bag will be UAH 2.

The government set minimum retail prices for plastic bags on December 20. It comes into force on February 1, 2022.
Thus, the minimum retail prices for packages with walls over 50 micrometers thick, intended for packaging and transportation of goods and products at retail, catering and service points will be:
UAH 2.00 – package without handles and side folds;
UAH 2.50 – package without handles, but with side folds or with handles without side folds;
UAH 3.00 – a package with handles and side folds.

In June 2021, a law came into force restricting the circulation of plastic bags in Ukraine. In particular, the law prohibits the free distribution of plastic bags in retail and catering establishments from December 10, 2021.
However, these requirements do not apply to biodegradable and ultra-thin plastic bags intended for packaging and transportation of fresh fish, meat, bulk products, ice and used as primary packaging until January 1, 2023.
In addition, from March 10, 2022, the distribution in stores and catering establishments of ultra-thin (with walls less than 15 micrometers thick), thin (with walls 15 to 50 micrometers thick) and oxo-decomposable plastic bags is prohibited.
Addition
The government believes that such decisions will limit the circulation of plastic bags and improve the environmental situation in the country.
According to the Ministry of Economy, every Ukrainian uses an average of 500 plastic bags a year.
