For 30 years of Ukraine’s independence, the birth rate has been decreasing all the time. This year, the birth rate in our country has fallen by half.
This is reported by the Informant with reference to the data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
According to the data, in Ukraine the highest birth rate was in 1990 (657.2 thousand children). And in September 2020, only 220.6 thousand children were born in the country.
By the way, the total amount of state payments to families for the first child has halved compared to 2010 (from $ 3130 to $ 1520). Payments for the third and next child decreased eight times (from $ 12,520 to $ 1,520).
The informant reminds that the UN Children’s Fund believes that the future of an entire generation is under threat.
