The American University in Kyiv has already started its activities, the first students will study in March, and one of the teachers will be Nobel Laureate in Economics Vernon Smith. The opening took place in the form of a meeting and lunch between University President Rick Shengrow, Rector Roman Sheremeta and co-founder Kurt Walker with the press.

The American University in Kyiv has opened in partnership with Arizona State University (ASU) and will offer students a double degree from both universities in exchange for one additional year of study at ASU (online or offline). The school will operate on the American education system.
First, it allows students to practically create a curriculum by offering a choice of courses that can be integrated into their main field of study. Second, it has different formats in how learning takes place. It includes exercises, internships, mentoring by faculty members. It’s much more than just a class lecture.
The training will be in English, so it is mandatory to enter the external examination in English and Ukrainian, and the third specialty remains at the choice of applicants. An alternative admission procedure is being developed for students of international universities without the obligatory passing of the external examination, but the diploma obtained in this case may not receive the status of a state in Ukraine, explains Rector Sheremet.
Applicants will be able to become students of master’s programs in the fields of IT and business management. It will cost from 8 to 9 thousand dollars a year, but the university will support the best students with scholarships.

As previously reported, the main campus of the American University in Kyiv will be located in the building of the River Station on Post Square, which is still being restored.
