Today, Sunday, November 29, the second round of local elections is taking place in Chernivtsi. Residents of the regional center will elect the mayor of the city.
Roman Klichuk (nominated by the local organization of the political party “United Alternative”) and Vitaly Mikhailishin (nominated by the local organization of the political party “Team Mikhailishin”) were promoted to the second round.
In the first round of voting on October 25, Klichuk won 27.29% of the votes cast, Vitaly Mikhailishin – 21.33%.
More than 185.5 thousand voters in 115 polling stations will be able to take part in the second round of the mayoral elections. Voting results must be established by December 4, 2020 inclusive.
According to the Chernivtsi Police Department of Communication , as of 8 am, all 112 polling stations opened on time and without violations.
“Public safety and order at polling stations is ensured by almost 250 law enforcement officers who ensure that the elections are held transparently and in accordance with the current legislation,” the police added.
Law enforcement officers added that now no extraordinary events and violations related to the electoral process have been recorded.
