Apart from Ukraine, the national team of Kazakhstan will not start.
Ukraine went to the 2022 Olympics with five ski acrobats – the current Olympic champion Alexander Abramenko, Dmitry Kotovsky and Alexander Okipnyuk, as well as Anastasia Novosad and Olga Polyuk. They had to compete in three tournaments in Beijing: team, men’s and women’s.
According to the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, three Ukrainian freestyle wrestlers – Dmytro Kotovsky, Anastasia Novosad and Oleksandr Okipnyuk – received positive tests for coronavirus just before the start and therefore the Ukrainian team is not able to put a full team of 3 freestyle wrestlers and start team competitions.
Currently, the athletes are isolated and provided with proper medical care.
The NOC of Ukraine noted that Ukrainian fans had high hopes for this discipline.
