According to the Latvian minister, the agency has already developed a plan and passed it to other ministries for evaluation.
Golubeva asked not to focus on figures, how much Latvia could accept. But the politician believes that it should be clear where and how to accommodate up to 10,000 people.

“Latvia has a plan in case a large flow of refugees suddenly goes to our country. This plan has existed for some time, but now it is important to understand that Ukraine has specific circumstances. First, it has a visa-free regime with the European Union. “Secondly, our people rightly support Ukraine’s desire to strengthen its country’s independence and territorial integrity. This means that people will be very understanding of the need to accept some Ukrainian refugees if, God forbid, a war breaks out,” LSM.lv quoted her as saying.
Therefore, according to the Minister, Latvia should be ready that we can have people with Ukrainian passports and it is extremely important that the state is ready for this and, if this really happens, that it is clear where to accommodate newcomers, how to ensure that they have been registered somewhere if they want to stay in the EU longer.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia called on all residents of our country who are on the territory of Ukraine to leave it in the near future – due to the possible aggravation of the situation.
Latvians, who for good reason can not leave Ukraine, are asked to register with the consulate and update current information about themselves.
