“Pursuant to the Resolution of the National Commission for Regulation of Economic Competition No. 236 of February 3, 222, we inform you that the first stage of testing Ukraine’s energy system in isolation from the energy systems of Russia, Belarus and ENTSO-E is scheduled for February 24-26, 2022. At this time, the UES of Ukraine will be merged with the “island of Burshtyn TPP”, two parts of the energy system of Ukraine will work synchronously, “the statement said.
Details
It is reported that the work in isolation is a test carried out in preparation for the synchronization of the United Energy System (UES) of Ukraine with the energy system of continental Europe ENTSO-E. It is provided for in the Agreement on the Conditions for the Future Unification of the Ukrainian and European Energy Systems and should be carried out in two stages: in winter and summer.
“Isolated tests and future synchronization of Ukraine’s energy system with the continental European energy system will be carried out in a single regulatory unit with the Moldovan energy system. The test results will be the basis for ENTSO-E’s decision to move to parallel operation with the Ukrainian and Moldovan power systems, ”the statement said.
The return of Ukraine’s energy system to parallel operation with these energy systems is scheduled for February 27. The Ukraine-Moldova regulatory unit is scheduled to work in isolation on February 24-26.
Addition
Earlier it was reported that a test for energy independence will be held in Ukraine soon. The country will be disconnected from the energy systems of Russia and Belarus for three days.
At the beginning of the heating season, Ukraine imported certain volumes from Belarus due to the lack of coal needed to generate electricity. The opportunity to import electricity from Russia and Belarus began on November 1, after several months of bans and litigation.
In particular, on January 25, the Ministry of Energy of Belarus reported an emergency supply of electricity to Ukraine.
According to UNN, Ukraine must disconnect its energy systems from Belarus and Russia in 2022. As reported, the import of electricity from Belarus and Russia will pose a threat to further synchronization of Ukraine with the European energy system.
This winter, the United Energy System (UES) of Ukraine was to undergo the first test period in isolation, Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said. He pointed out that such a test is necessary for further decision on the synchronization of the Ukrainian power system with the European ENTSO-E. The synchronization of the ECO in ENTSO-E is scheduled for 2023.
ENTSO-E is a European network of electricity transmission system operators, uniting 43 operators in 36 countries on the European continent.
