The Ukrainian won the medal of the European Open Judo Cup
The capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted the first European Open Cup of the season, which the Ukrainian national team finished with one silver medal .

20-year-old Oleksiy Yershov (up to 100 kg) put the award in the treasury of the “yellow-blue” team, for whom this award was his debut at the adult level. Having confidently started his tournament career, the Zaporizhzhya judoka defeated rivals from Azerbaijan, Poland and Germany in the previous rounds.
In the semifinals, the Ukrainian judoka managed to beat another German, Dario Courbeveit, but in the final he lost to the Italian Enrico Bergamelli. At the same time, in the course of the match, Oleksiy was the first to accept Vaza-Ari and had the advantage, but in the third minute of the match he made a mistake, for which he paid with an ippon from the opponent.
It should be noted that two more Ukrainians stopped a step away from the medal, reaching the bronze final. Mykhailo Svidrak (up to 81 kg) and Andriy Kolesnyk (over 100 kg) took the fifth places.

The next international start for our judokas will be the Grand Slam in Tel Aviv (February 17-19).
