Ukraine Gate – Kiev – February 22, 2022 – Oil prices rose more than 2% today, Tuesday, February 22, on fears of supply disruptions amid escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia after Moscow decided to send troops to ORDLO.
The price of a barrel of Brent oil for April at 9:15 Kiev time was $94.88 (+2.03%) as a barrel of West Texas Intermediate crude oil for March was trading at $93.42 (+3.56%). During the previous session, Brent crude rose 2% to $95.39 a barrel, and during the session prior to Friday, the contract fell 0.8%, on Monday, WTI was not held due to a holiday in the United States.
Analysts said the most difficult issue threatening the oil market was whether Russia’s energy exports would be halted if Moscow pursued a large-scale invasion of Ukraine and Western governments imposed sanctions on Russian financial institutions.
