The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the word “Independence” should be written in capital letters – as a sign of boundless respect for all those who have fought for it for centuries. According to him, Ukrainians later realized that gaining independence does not mean the final end of the struggle. He announced this on his Facebook page.
“Although it’s not spelled out, I think the word ‘Independence’ should be capitalized. As a sign of boundless respect for all those who have fought for it for centuries, and as a symbol of how much it means to us.” Zelensky wrote.
According to him, for the first time telling children what Ukraine’s Independence, its sovereignty, freedom and independence are, one can hear their sincere surprise: “What, could it be otherwise?”.
29 years ago, our society gave, without exaggeration, a historical answer to this question: it could not be otherwise. On December 1, 1991, an All-Ukrainian referendum was held, in which more than 90% of citizens said “yes” to independent Ukraine. in the powerful voice of the Ukrainian people to speak to the whole world: “We want and will live in our state – in a free Ukraine. Later we will understand that gaining Independence does not mean the final end of the struggle. That it needs to be defended with weapons in hand, at the cost of one’s own life, “Zelensky said.
The President stressed that Ukraine is doing this for the seventh year in a row.
“We are doing everything for peace and the return of our territories. For the sake of future generations and their sincere surprises:” Could it be otherwise than a free, united and independent Ukraine? “Zelensky wrote.
In addition, Zelensky suggested thinking about it and remembering every time “when it is so tempting to start a Facebook battle with his own compatriots on the topic” Who loves Ukraine more, better and more correctly?”. “The main thing today is that we have everything we need to become a powerful and competitive country. And Ukraine has every chance to be just that soon. But it is possible under one simple condition – if we all together contribute to this efforts, “he stressed.
