Ukraine Gate – Kiev – February 26, 2022 – The head of the Latvian Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Communications confirmed on Saturday that “Latvia’s airspace will be closed to flights of Russian aircraft.”
Earlier, Minister of Communications Talis Linkits told the media that the decision on the possible closure of airspace for Russian airlines will be made in coordination with other countries of the European Union.
A similar decision was made in Lithuania by the Cabinet of Ministers, which met on Saturday night: from midnight the country’s airspace will be closed to Russian air carriers.
As previously reported today, Estonia has closed its airspace to Russian airlines. The official, who said this, called on his Baltic counterparts to “do the same to cut Russia off from European airspace.”
