Ukraine-Kiev Gate, February 27, 2022 – Google has announced that it will ban Russian state media from selling commercials on the company’s platforms, according to an official of the Axios portal.
According to an official of the “Axios” portal, the company will suspend advertisements in Russian-funded media on its platforms regarding events in Ukraine.
“We are closely monitoring developments and will take further steps if necessary,” the official at the portal said.
Axios’ decision came a few hours after the video hosting company YouTube, a Google service, announced on Saturday that it was banning Russian state media from advertising on its channels around the world.
According to a video hosting representative, the platform has suspended the ability to monetize a number of channels on YouTube, including several related to the recent sanctions.
He continued that, at the request of the government (USA), we have restricted access to other channels in Ukraine.
“We will continue to monitor developments and can take further measures,” he added.
Earlier, social networks Twitter and Facebook announced similar events.
