Ukraine gate- Kiev on February 27, 2022 – British energy giant BP announced on Sunday it had decided to exit its 19.75 percent stake in Russian state-controlled oil firm Rosneft after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine
In this context, BP CEO Bernard Looney announced his resignation from the Rosneft board of directors, in a statement that the invasion “has prompted us to fundamentally rethink BP’s position with Rosneft”.
British Trade and Investment Minister Kwasi Quarting said on Sunday he welcomed BP’s decision.
He tweeted: “The illogical and inhuman Russian invasion of Ukraine should be seen as a wake-up call for British companies with business interests in Russia (Russian President Vladimir).
For their part, cyber experts and executives said US banks are preparing for retaliatory cyber attacks after Western countries imposed a raft of tough sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.
