Another 861 people were injured in the conflict, bringing the total number of civilian casualties to 1,335, according to the United Nations.
The real figure is likely to be “much higher,” according to the United Nations.
“This applies, for example, to the cities of Volnovakha, Mariupol, Izyum, where there are reports of hundreds of civilian casualties. These figures are specified and not taken into account in the above statistics,” the statement said.
The UN has registered 545 victims in pro-Moscow militants in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, including 96 killed and 449 wounded as of Tuesday.
“Most of the civilian casualties were caused by the use of high-explosives, including heavy artillery and multiple rocket launches, missiles and air strikes.”
