Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – March 10, 2022- The Polish House of Representatives has passed a law to support Ukrainian citizens who were pushed by the war to seek asylum in Poland, to regulate the legality of the residence of Ukrainian refugees in Poland, and to increase them with comprehensive support.

As the law provides for the provision of an identification code (PESEL) to refugees from Ukraine, and recognition of their stay in Poland as legal for 18 months, so that they can find legal work and get free medicines, the state will also provide the opportunity for Ukrainian pupils and students to study in schools and universities.
This will pay 1.2 thousand zlotys per month (about 8.5 thousand UAH) as assistance to individuals and organizations that will provide housing and food for refugees from Ukraine, the allowance will be paid for a maximum period of 60 days, and the Polish state will also pay a one-time allowance to refugees from Ukraine at the rate of PLN 300 (2.1 thousand UAH) for one person.
The BGK State Bank will create a special fund, which will finance assistance to Ukraine, and create a special reserve in the budget of the Republic of Poland.
Meanwhile, the special law strengthens criminal responsibility for human trafficking and procuring committed during the war in Ukraine. The Polish Border Guard Service said that about 1.4 million refugees from Ukraine have arrived in the country since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24.
