Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – March 10, 2022- After Ukraine called on world partners to impose sanctions on the aggressor country, Russia, from which the auto industry suffered greatly, some production companies decided to stop their dealings with Russia due to the aggression and problems with the supply of components.
A list of car companies that had to stop production in Russia has been prepared, as BMW has announced a freeze in production of cars at its Avtotor plant in the Kaliningrad region.
And the Ford brand announced the discontinuation of production of the Transit truck at the Ford Sollers plant in Yelabuga, Republic of Tatarstan.
The luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz also stopped its facilities in the Sunny Mountain region near Moscow, and Renault gradually left the Russian market and began closing its Moscow plant.
And the management of Volkswagen AG decided to stop production of Volkswagen and Skoda cars in Russia. At the moment, tankers have ceased to operate at two enterprises – in Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod.
Hyundai, MAN and Volvo Group have also stopped manufacturing their cars in the “aggressor” country.
And the most interesting thing is that AvtoVAZ completely discontinued its plant in Togliatti, it is very simple: modern VAZ cars are “salt shakers” of various car brands, because most of the components for these cars are European, so without European parts it is simply impossible to assemble any VAZ.
