The temporary change in the company’s policy on hostile statements in the publications is connected with the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine .

Relevant posts can be published by users from Ukraine, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
Emails to the moderators state that calls for violence against Russia are acceptable if the publication clearly refers to the invasion of Ukraine. Letters on the deaths of the leaders of Russia and Belarus will be blocked if they contain two assumptions about plausible threats – for example, location and method, or other purposes.
Calls for violence against the Russian military will be considered permissible, except for prisoners of war. Meta will also praise the Azov Battalion, which is usually banned. According to company spokesman Joe Osborne, they make an exception “in the context of their defense of Ukraine as part of the Ukrainian National Guard.”
“We have temporarily made an exception for forms of political expression that usually violate our rules, such as violent remarks,” Meta spokeswoman Andy Stone told CNN.
At the same time, the company will still not allow plausible calls for violence against Russian civilians.
