Australia has imposed sanctions on 33 Russian oligarchs, businessmen and members of their families who “have benefited directly from the Kremlin’s illegal actions in Ukraine since 2014.” This was reported by CNN with reference to Foreign Minister Maris Payne .

Among them are the owner of the Chelsea football club Roman Abramovich, Gazprom chairman Alexei Miller, Russia Bank chairman Dmitry Lebedev, Rostekh chairman Sergei Chemezov, Transneft chairman Nikolai Tokarev, WEB.RF chairman Igor Shuvalov and chairman. Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev.
“Many of these oligarchs have benefited directly from the Kremlin’s illegal actions in Ukraine since 2014,” the statement said.
Those affected by the sanctions were said to have “accumulated enormous personal wealth and are of economic and strategic importance to Russia, including through their ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.”
