A clear satellite image of Snake Island has appeared: a Russian warship is at anchor

The American space technology company Maxar Technologies has published the first clear satellite image of the Ukrainian Snake Island in the Black Sea.

The photo, taken by Maxar Technologies on Sunday, is the first clear image of the island since it was bombed at the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
As can be seen in the photo, some buildings with red roofs in the center of the island appear to have been severely damaged by Russian shelling in the early hours of the invasion. The Russian ship, which Maxar identified as a Ropucha-class landing craft, is at anchor.
Part of the island is still covered with snow, on its surface you can see the funnels of missiles.
According to a radio dialogue between them, Ukrainian border guards received a message: “I am a Russian warship. I offer to lay down my arms and surrender to avoid bloodshed and unjustified casualties. Otherwise, you will be bombed. As you know, the reception?”. To which they received the answer: “Russian warship, go to x * y.”
Information later emerged that the defenders could be alive while being held captive by the Russian occupiers.
