The Verkhovna Rada wants to remove age restrictions for civil servants. Bill №4096 was supported by 260 parliamentarians.
The draft amends the Law on Civil Service, which provides for the possibility of reappointment for one year of a civil servant who has reached retirement age, without the obligation to hold a competition annually.
“Approval of the bill will contribute to the effective functioning of state bodies. No ageism in the civil service,” – said the deputy faction “Servant of the People” Alexander Kornienko, presenting the bill.
The explanatory note emphasizes that the Constitution of Ukraine does not provide for restrictions on the exercise of the right to work in general.
“The state must create conditions for citizens to fully exercise their right to work and guarantee equal opportunities in choosing a profession and type of employment. Article 38 of the Basic Law also requires equal access of citizens to civil service and local government service,” it said.
