According to media reports, the minister’s comments are seen as one of Beijing’s most outspoken statements about the unprecedented barrage of international sanctions imposed on Russia’s corporate and financial system.
Such measures were taken in response to the Kremlin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24.
The White House has reportedly warned China not to provide economic assistance to Russia. The United States says it fears that China, a key strategic ally of Moscow, could try to mitigate the effects of measures aimed at destroying Russia’s economy if the war continues.
Market participants fear that Chinese companies may soon face financial sanctions following reports that Moscow has turned to Beijing for help in supporting its invasion of Ukraine.
China has denied the allegations, and Russia has said it has not demanded military assistance from Beijing.

The United States has told its allies that China may be ready to provide military support to Russia.
