Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – March 16, 2022- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his address to the US Congress on Wednesday that Ukrainians are now defending not only Ukraine by sacrificing their lives, but also the entire civilized world and they need support from powerful countries like the United States.
“Today, the Ukrainian people defend not only Ukraine. We defend the values of Europe and the world, sacrifice our lives for the future,” he said.
He thanked the American people for their support of Ukraine and stressed that they are helping not only Ukraine, but also Europe and the world in keeping planet Earth alive, and preserving justice in history.
“Now I am almost 45 years old. Today my life has stopped when the hearts of more than 100 children have stopped beating. I do not see any meaning in life if it cannot stop death. And this is my main task as the leader of my people – great,” said Zelensky.
Then Zelensky addressed President Joe Biden.
“You are the leader of the nation, your great nation. I wish you to be the leader of the world. Being the leader of the world means being the leader of peace,” he said.
Zelensky on Wednesday called on the US Congress to make an important decision to protect Ukrainian skies – to create a no-fly zone or provide powerful aircraft and air defense systems.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of the invasion of Ukraine. Russian forces bomb and destroy major infrastructure and residential areas in Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and ballistic missiles.
