Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk told how the humanitarian corridors will work today, March 17. She stated this during a briefing.
In total, according to her, 9 humanitarian corridors have been agreed.
Details
Donetsk region: from Mariupol to Zaporizhia. We have asked for approval of this route and plan to send buses from Zaporozhye to Berdyansk to gather people from Mariupol.
Kyiv region: from the town of Borodyanka to Zhytomyr, from the village of Shevchenkovo to the town of Brovary. We also plan to deliver humanitarian aid to the cities of Gostomel, Bucha, the villages of Semipolka, Markivtsi, and Opanasiv.
Kharkiv region: humanitarian aid will be provided from Kharkiv to Vovchansk.
The work on the release of civilians from captivity is also intensifying: Dniprorudne Mayor Yevhen Matveev, Melitopol District Council Chairman Serhiy Priyma, Ivaniv City Mayor Tetyana Svyridenko, Shchastyn City Civil Administration Head Volodymyr Tyurin, Secretary and Councilor Yuriy Skadakh
In addition, Iryna Vereshchuk said that the National Information Bureau had been established as of today, in accordance with the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War of August 12, 1949. It is determined that the State Enterprise Ukrainian National Center for Peacebuilding, which belongs to the Ministry of Reintegration, will be a legal entity under public law and will perform the functions of the National Information Bureau.
“We have informed the International Red Cross through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the establishment of such a bureau and we hope that our work will be fruitful for people, families who are expecting their sons and daughters from captivity,” Vereshchuk said.
