The European Union has decided to postpone the Ukraine-EU Association Council. It was to take place in a video conference format on December 8.
“The interlocutor explained the reason in the desire to hold a meeting in person, and not in the format of a video conference, when circumstances allow it,” – said in a statement.
It is reported that earlier it was planned to hold the Association Council in a videoconference format due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Such a meeting in a virtual format would be informal, because in the EU any formal meetings at the political level can be held only physically. And only then can they make decisions. The video conference was scheduled for December 8. The EU High Council is represented by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Ukraine is represented by the Prime Minister,” the statement said.
It will be recalled that the European Union has published an annual report on Ukraine’s implementation of reforms under the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement over the past year. The report notes both the progress made in implementing reforms and the challenges facing the country, including the constitutional crisis.
