The Center for Combating Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine provides recommendations from the military and psychologists on how to act if you are captured .

In the event of captivity to the Russian occupiers, the following rules must be observed:
- Be calm and do not show that you are scared. Do not resist the occupiers, do not try to talk to them, do not ask to feel sorry for them or discourage them from their plan. Do not violate the established rules, so as not to provoke deterioration of conditions.
- Psychologically, you will not be fired immediately, but remember that you will be fired.
- Do not look directly into the eyes of terrorists, but a little to the side. Do not pretend to be humiliated – it also provokes aggression.
- If given – eat, even if you do not want. Do not show resistance. If you lose strength, you will not be able to escape.
- Take every opportunity to go to the toilet or do something for yourself.
- Never show contact with other prisoners, it can be used against you or your relatives.
- Do not lose hope. Remind yourself that your family is waiting for you. Strive to survive for them.
