Ukraine will launch a system of national bug-bounties to prevent cyberattacks

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has allowed to involve independent IT specialists in testing vulnerabilities of information systems to prevent cyber attacks. This was reported by the State Special Service .

“In the near future, the State Special Communications Service will develop an appropriate procedure and launch a system of national bugs (finding errors in systems – ed.). The IT community will be able to legally test government information systems for vulnerabilities, and the state will have a tool to significantly increase protection systems, “the statement said.

Parliament voted in favor of amending Articles 361 and 361-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which will involve external experts in finding errors and vulnerabilities in software, information and communication systems, etc. and promptly eliminate all deficiencies and gaps in security.
The State Special Communications Service has drafted a bill to implement the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to improve the state’s cybersecurity and prevent incidents similar to the one that occurred on January 14 this year.
Due to the approved changes, interference in the operation of information, electronic communication, information and communication systems, electronic communication networks will not be considered unauthorized if such interference is made in accordance with the Procedure for searching and identifying potential vulnerabilities of such systems or networks.

On March 13, the Russians attempted a cyber attack on Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, but failed.
