More than half of Ukrainians support the ban of the UOC-Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine. This is evidenced by the results of a poll conducted by the sociological group “Rating” on April 6,

“There is growing support for the idea of severing ties between the UOC-Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church. Today, 74% support this initiative (63% in early March). Only 7% do not support it,” the poll said.

Half of the respondents (51%) believe that the state should ban the activities of the UOC-MP on the territory of Ukraine (the ban is supported by two thirds of the respondents from the west and only 29% from the east).
“At the same time, 21% support the deprivation of benefits and the abolition of leases of church premises. However, 20% are in favor of non-interference of the state in church affairs – most in the east (35%) and south (25%),” – said the poll.

The poll was conducted on April 6. Audience: the population of Ukraine aged 18 and older in all oblasts, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas. The sample is representative by age, sex and type of settlement.
Total respondents: 1,200 respondents.
Survey method: CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews).
Error of representativeness of the study with a confidence level of 0.95: not more than 2.8%.

At the end of March, it was reported that more than 50 communities in Ukraine had recently joined the PCU, and about 100 communities had identified themselves and were in the process of transition.
