The ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari and Abdul Suleiman Al-Qena’i, returned to Beirut on Friday afternoon, amid renewed hope for restoring diplomatic relations to the besieged country.
They landed at Beirut airport less than 24 hours after the Kingdom and Kuwait announced the return of their envoys to Lebanon, which sparked optimism for a new beginning with the Arab Gulf states after a five-month diplomatic boycott.
The Grand Mufti of Lebanon, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, said: “This decision establishes a new stage of hope and confidence in Lebanon’s Arab future, its identity and affiliation, and cooperation with the Gulf states and the rest of the sisterly Arab countries.”
