Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – April 9, 2022- Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski has announced a freeze in relations between Warsaw and Budapest, POLITICO reports, after Russia’s war on Ukraine strained Poland’s close alliance with Hungary, and ignited the strength of Orbán’s close ties with Putin, including his refusal to condemn the massacres of occupiers in Bucha. Warsaw is angry, but will reconsider its decision only when the Hungarian prime minister changes his position on the Kremlin’s actions.
“We cannot cooperate as in the past if this continues,” he said.
Kaczynski criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for refusing to condemn Russia for the mass killing of civilians in Bucha, near Kyiv.
Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister said: “My assessment is unequivocally negative – I must admit that it is all very sad. When Orban says he does not see what happened in Bucha, he should be advised to consult an ophthalmologist.”
Jaroslaw Kaczynski asserted that Poland would not resume relations with Hungary until Viktor Orban changed his position on the Kremlin’s actions.
