Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – April 11, 2022- The foreign ministers of the European Union held a meeting in the Belgian capital, Brussels, to talk about the current situation in Ukraine, and the recent developments that occurred in the country due to the unjustified Russian aggression, stressing their quest to help Ukraine repel the brutal aggression.
“We will now discuss how we can better support the people of Ukraine, as well as how we can support the efforts of the International Criminal Court (ICC),” Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union, said before the meeting. Ukraine with the President of the European Commission, we saw what happened there, a very dirty and brutal assault by Russian forces against the civilian population, we cannot leave them alone.
He noted that a meeting was held with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, during which the European Union reiterated its readiness to provide all necessary assistance in the investigation of Russian crimes in Ukraine to the International Criminal Court and the Office of the Prosecutor of Ukraine.
In response to questions from the press about developments in Ukraine, Josef Borrell did not rule out that the situation in the Donbass region could worsen in the coming days.
“We see that Russian forces are concentrated in the east to launch an attack on Donbass, and the Ukrainians are well aware of this, so I fear that a new war will break out in Donbass in the coming days,” he added.
Borrell avoided answering questions about the possible outcome of the battle, saying only that “victories and defeats can occur on the battlefield.”
