He noted that genocide is a correct description of Russia’s attacks in Ukraine.
“I think it’s absolutely right that more and more people are saying and using the word genocide in terms of what Russia is doing, what Vladimir Putin has done,” Trudeau said.
“We have seen this desire to attack civilians, to use sexual violence as a weapon of war. This is absolutely unacceptable,” he said.
The prime minister added that Canada was one of the first countries to initiate proceedings in the International Criminal Court in The Hague to hold the Kremlin leader accountable for his war crimes.

Kyiv will call on the world to recognize Russia’s actions as genocide of the Ukrainian people. The relevant resolution has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada.
