Former Italian national football team player Paolo Rossi has died at the age of 64.
Rossi was a graduate of Juventus. At the Turin club, he spent most of his professional career. In 1979, Rossi was jailed for several months for playing match fixing. After his release, he was disqualified for two years. The disqualification expired just a month before the start of the 1982 World Cup, but despite this, the striker was called up to the Italian national team.
Rossi is the 1982 world champion in the Italian national team and the top scorer of that tournament. In the same year he received the Golden Ball award as the best football player in Europe.
