Korean car giant Hyundai Motor buys American robot company Boston Dynamics Inc. in the Japanese SoftBank Group worth about 921 million US dollars.
The publication, citing sources, reports that the company will complete the acquisition at a meeting of the board of directors on December 10.
According to sources, Hyundai Motor will finance about half of the purchase price, the rest will be paid by its affiliates, including auto parts manufacturer Hyundai Mobis Co.
Boston Dynamics is known for technologically advanced but unprofitable machines, such as the Spot robot, which looks like a dog.
Boston Dynamics also introduced the Atlas humanoid robot and the bird-like Handle mobile robot for logistics services.
