Today, the investigating judge of the Lychakiv District Court of Lviv granted the request of the investigator in particularly important cases of the Main Investigation Department of the State Bureau of Investigation, which was approved by the Prosecutor General and elected a pre-trial detention measure for the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Viktor Medvedchuk.

The court was informed that Medvedchuk was detained on April 12 and taken to the pre-trial investigation body on April 14. As required by law, the issue of choosing a measure of restraint for the detainee was considered no later than forty-eight hours.
“Following the consideration of this petition, the investigating judge left the suspect Medvedchuk Viktor Volodymyrovych selected a measure of restraint in the form of detention without bail.
At the request of the parties to the criminal proceedings, in order to ensure the safety of participants in the proceedings, including the suspect, which he filed an application, the petition was considered by the investigating judge in accordance with Article 336 of the CPC of Ukraine by videoconference during broadcast from another room. – reported in court.
The suspect and the defense counsel have the right to file an appeal against the said court decision.
After that he was put on the state, interstate and international wanted list. On March 18, he was arrested in absentia without bail.
After Medvedchuk’s detention, the court also arrested 154 more objects of movable and immovable property of the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Viktor Medvedchuk and his wife Oksana Marchenko.
