Von der Leyen also said that the EU was working on “reasonable mechanisms” to ensure that oil supplies (embargo – ed.) Could also be included in subsequent sanctions. According to her, the priority of sanctions is “reducing Putin’s income.”
She also directly defended the German government against accusations that it was slowing down restrictions on Russia: “Germany has agreed to all five packages of sanctions we have proposed within 48 hours.”
Never before has the European Union “acted as cohesively, decisively and vigorously as it does now,” and Berlin has played a role in this, von der Leyen said.
