People’s Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk, who was detained last week, appealed to the presidents of Ukraine and Russia to exchange him for defenders and residents of Mariupol, the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine informs .

“The detained SBU People’s Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk addressed the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with a proposal to exchange him for defenders and residents of Mariupol,” the SBU said.
The people’s deputy voiced his wish in a video address, which was also published by the Security Service.

According to the agency, the politician noted that they “are in a blocked city, not having a safe exit through humanitarian corridors.”
According to the SBU, about 120,000 civilians remain in blocked Mariupol, according to various estimates, and the city continues to be defended by fighters of the Azov Regiment and the 36th Marine Brigade.

On April 12, Medvedchuk, who escaped from house arrest, was detained as a result of a special SBU operation.
