Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – April 18, 2022- In a conversation with Maltese Foreign Minister Jan Burg, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy announced that Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stressed the need to include an oil embargo in the sixth package of European Union sanctions against Russia.
Lukuleba said that he had spoken with his Maltese counterpart Jan Burg, expressed gratitude to Malta for its support of the previous five rounds of EU sanctions against Russia, and stressed that the sixth package of EU sanctions should include an oil embargo on Russia.
The head of the President’s office Andrei Yermak also indicated that an oil embargo was planned in the sixth package of European Union sanctions against Russia.
Ermack also noted that the EU aims to phase out Russia’s oil purchases, and that Ukraine is trying to tighten them.
The EU leadership is working on the possibility of imposing a ban on Russian oil products, which would be one of the strongest blows to the Russian economy, which has already suffered greatly from sanctions due to the Kremlin’s war in Ukraine.
