Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – April 19, 2022- The Istanbul negotiating platform must be preserved and used as an instrument of informational, diplomatic and political struggle against the Russian aggressor.
This opinion was expressed by a journalist, a representative of some districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions as part of the Ukrainian delegation in the tripartite contact group Serhiy Garmash.
“I think that now this diplomatic platform in Istanbul Should be preserved and used, because it is also a tool of information, diplomatic and political struggle against the aggressor. But it is not worth having any expectations that the fate of the conflict may be resolved there, at least for now, “Garmash said.
In this context, he noted that the chances of a diplomatic settlement of this war will decrease when we learn “how many Buch in Mariupol, Popasna and other Ukrainian cities.”
According to the journalist, the bloody crimes of the Russians also leave little chance for a meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia.
“I think the further away, the less chance there is, because meeting the executioner of the Ukrainian people, who is now Putin, is politically risky for our president. And I don’t see any sense in such a meeting at the moment, because Putin is not betting on the diplomatic process at all, “said a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at an event with ambassadors accredited to the country that the events in Bucha, Irpen and Kramatorsk had overshadowed efforts to resolve the war launched by Russia against Ukraine. Nevertheless, Turkey will continue to make efforts to continue negotiations and is ready to organize a meeting of the Presidents of Ukraine and Russia.
