87% of Japanese citizens, 77% of Polish citizens, 77% of South Korean citizens and 75% of Swedish citizens believe that their own country faces significant risks due to Russian aggression.
From 57% to 77% of respondents follow the news about the war in Ukraine. The exceptions are Japan (89%), Sweden (83%) and Malaysia (49%). In particular, in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Hungary and India, the prevailing view is that “Ukraine’s problems are not our business and we must not intervene.” It is also shared by half of those polled in Mexico, Israel and Argentina. With the exception of Hungary, between 65% and 80% in other EU Member States surveyed, as well as in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and South Korea, disagree.
Three quarters of citizens (74%) agree that their country should accept Ukrainian refugees. Most of them are in Sweden (89%), the Netherlands (86%), Spain (85%) and Poland (84%). The lowest figure in Turkey is 53%. At the same time, six out of ten respondents say they cannot afford financial support from Ukraine.
Also, 70% of the world’s citizens believe that their country should support sovereign states in the event of an attack. At the same time, 72% of respondents believe that military intervention should be avoided.
About 36% of citizens support the provision of weapons to Ukraine. About two-thirds agree that economic sanctions against Russia are an effective tactic to stop the war.

The survey was conducted from March 25 to April 3 among 19,000 adults under the age of 75 on the Ipsos Global Advisor online survey platform.
