Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – April 23, 2022- The Lviv Agricultural Development Department stated that the farmers of the Ukrainian city of Lviv today received another humanitarian shipment containing 2,300 units of maize seed from Bayer, the delivery of which was supported by the Ministry of Agriculture of Ukraine and the Agricultural Development Department of the Lviv Regional Administration.
Humanitarian aid has been distributed to novice farmers in the area, with seeds received by about 100 farmers who are cultivating up to 500 hectares of land.
According to preliminary estimates, farmers will be able to plant more than 2.3 thousand hectares with the obtained seeds, of which 21-22 thousand tons are expected to be harvested.
He added that this is the second humanitarian shipment of seeds received by agricultural institutions in the region in April of this year, as the first shipment, which contains 95 tons of seed potatoes from France, was distributed to 20 novice farmers in the region, Tetiana Hetman said. , Director of the APR Department of the Lviv Regional Administration, humanitarian shipments of corn seeds are very timely, the sowing campaign has just begun in the region and will continue at least until the end of May.
We will mention that the farmers of the Zhytomyr region will receive 140 tons of corn seed for free, and that the FAO will provide the seeds and money to the Ukrainian farmers.
