Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – April 23, 2022- In a statement issued by the British Foreign Office, British citizens residing in Ukraine should leave the country immediately in the event of a decision to extend the period of stay, as it is advised to follow the official reports of the Ukrainian authorities and statements of leadership in the regions and act according to their recommendations.
This is because the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues to attack a number of major cities, and there is a real danger to life, so we advise British citizens to leave Ukraine immediately.
The Ministry also recommends that citizens who remained in Ukraine register their presence in order to receive updates on the current situation, if a medical evacuation is necessary, it is recommended to contact private companies.
It is noteworthy that despite the resumption of the work of the British Embassy in Kyiv, consular assistance is not provided to citizens in person, and a full range of consular services are available in neighboring countries.
The advice of the Ukrainian authorities should also be followed. A citizen should check the procedures in place in the region, as they differ by region. If a citizen decides to stay in Ukraine, he should be alert to any possible hostilities, constantly review departure plans and update his travel documents.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the British authorities for returning the embassy to Kyiv.
