Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – April 23, 2022- Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal discussed the issue of further aid to Ukraine with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva.
“The International Monetary Fund was among the first to provide substantial $1.4 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. I personally thanked IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva for this at our meeting in Washington,” Shmyhal said.
The parties discussed issues of further short-term IMF assistance to Ukraine and long-term reconstruction of Ukraine.
Shmyhal stressed that he very much appreciates the decision to set up a special account under the management of the IMF to provide Ukraine with additional assistance from the Fund’s member states on a bilateral basis.
Schmyhal, visiting Washington in recent days, said he had extremely fruitful meetings with the IMF, World Bank, other organizations and US government agencies.
