During a joint press conference in Kyiv with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the recent operations of Russian troops at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

Zelensky accused Russian troops of ignoring the nuclear threat and looted and damaged several areas of the plant, including the system control center and laboratory.

The Chernobyl nuclear power plant in northern Ukraine was occupied by Russian troops, but is now back under Ukrainian control.

He warned that their carelessness signaled the danger of Russia’s use of nuclear weapons.
