Adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak stated that Russia will sooner or later face an energy embargo, so in the medium term the aggressor country will face unprecedented poverty.

“Imposing an embargo on Russian energy is a matter of time. Giving up Russian oil is not only about moral responsibility, but also about calculation: Russia is no longer a reliable and predictable partner in the eyes of the world, so the world cannot afford to depend on it.” he assured .

Podoliak noted that Europe will be able to completely abandon Russia’s energy resources. According to him, switching to alternative supply channels will be expensive, but not so much if it is not done.
“In the medium term, Moscow will face total economic and political isolation. The result will be poverty on a scale Russia has never seen before,” he said.
Brussels is working on a sixth package of sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. It is expected to be presented to the European Union early next week and will include a form of ban on Russian oil imports .
