According to Sulzhik, PrivatBank moved its data center to the European Union, fearing the threat of physical destruction of the bank’s data centers in Kyiv and Dnipro.
In early March, he recalled, the National Bank allowed banks to keep customer data outside the country.
The bank has been working on a project to transfer its customers’ data to the European Union for the past 45 days, Sulzhik said. This was the reason for the disruptions in the bank’s services in recent weeks, although the bank did not speak about it publicly.

“Now Privat works entirely from Europe,” Sulzhik said.
According to Deputy Chairman of the NBU Yaroslav Matuzka, banks have long raised the issue of deeper use of cloud technologies. “Now banks do not depend on critical infrastructure inside the country,” he said.

On March 8, the NBU allowed banks for martial law plus two years to provide services using cloud services using equipment in the European Union, Great Britain, the United States and Canada.
Due to hostilities, according to the National Bank, almost a third of bank branches do not operate in Ukraine.
