This Sunday, 24,000 people took part in a May Day demonstration in Paris, according to the French Interior Ministry.
The procession started at 14:30 local time from the Republic Square. It was attended by trade unions, students and school organizations. Then a group of protesters in black clothes, gloves and masks separated from the demonstrators. They started moving on an uncoordinated route.
As it is noted, violators broke glass, smashed shops, banks, a branch of McDonald’s restaurant. Some of those present tried to erect barricades. Hooligans threw various objects at security officers.
Law enforcement officers tried to disperse them with tear gas and a water cannon. Firefighters arrived on the scene to extinguish the arsonists. One of the offenders tried to attack the firefighters.
